TEACHING SUCKERS A LESSON IN TABLE MANNERS

A poem I wrote, THE KITCHEN SINK COMPARES ITSELF TO YOU, is currently loose and wandering the streets of Turkey thanks to Simon Jacobs at Safety Pin Review and our man in the trenches, Jeremy Reed. More action shots to follow.

WITH JUST THE BEER LIGHT TO GUIDE US

If you don’t know about Unshod Quills, let this note serve as an official, “Why not?” Editor Dena Rash Guzman runs a tight ship, and she has been kind enough to include two of my pieces in Issue 3 on the themes of David Bowie and Dancing about Architecture. Thanks, Dena!

LIKE A LIT STACK OF BOSSES

Mud Luscious kingpin, JA Tyler, has assembled a firecracker of a special issue of [PANK] to coincide with the release of the Stamp Stories Anthology. Yes, fifty words or less by some of the most compelling word hustlers in the game. To say I’m honored to be included would be an understatement. You should probably get some!

IN WHICH I AM A WILDLY INVENTIVE DANCE ROUTINE

HOUSEFIRE has published an erasure piece I did for them, of which I am particularly fond: THE BRIDE ATLANTIS. Please have a look at it if you have the time. Thanks to the whole HF family, and especially, to Maurice Burford for the wild prompt that made this possible.

STARS ONLY LISTEN: ghostlong at elimae

My poem, ghostlong is now up at elimae.

Fun fact: this poem and its title were at one time the alternate end poem and title to none other than my Red Ceilings Press chapbook, Olifaunt. I’m glad it’s been published, and I’m happy to once again have work featured with elimae. Thanks, Coop!

COLLECTED WORDS ABOUT FUTURE SONGS

 My words, SONGS NO ONE COLLECTS ARE SONGS FOR A FUTURE, are happy to be included among the many wonderful sets of words that have gathered to form Mud Luscious, Issue Seventeen. Do stop by and shake their hands; these words would like a chance to read you better. My undying gratitude as always to J. A. Tyler and Andrew Borgstrom, two of the finest editors any words can know.

EVERYONE WHO KNOWS ME WILL DISAPPEAR IF IT’S THE LAST THING I DO

DAVID TOMALOFF

======

The orange teeth of the concrete kicked in, I wound my way through the city’s maze until I found my weighted heart unchained &set free. I woke up in the arms of a meadow I once loved, where I’d slipped into sleep on a mouthful of blood. I woke up next to a mother’s ghost, tired &battered from the mornings of all the nights before. More than slightly, Miss Tucson, you fucked me up, &you left me there to wither. I reasoned that if I could get out for a couple of days, I might get to see the space where I’d lived—where I might have lived if everI had truly lived—to see who I might have been on the other end of the gun. The buildings at night with their shadowed plaster peepholes. My lungs, like a couple of pump organs, beating out natural flats until I wound up here with a fifth. She is the ragged specter within me; she is the child I never was. I BUILT HER A PLACE IN THE FOREST. I left her there &never returned.

PROPOLIS FEATURED AT MOVING POEMS

The beautiful videopoem triptych, PROPOLIS, which features some of my words, has been added to Dave Bonta’s MOVING POEMS website. MOVING POEMS prides itself on being “an on-going anthology of the best videopoems, filmpoems, animated poems, and other poetry videos from around the web.” It’s truly an honor to be part of this project.
